Denmark, 1943

about

This song also appears on my 2015 album, The Other Side. Not to be confused with Fred Small's song with the same name, about the same incident (which I rediscovered long after writing this one), it's a song about the 95% of Danish Jews who survived the Third Reich by getting asylum in Sweden, and getting taken to Sweden by various other Danes. I wrote it while looking at the Baltic Sea, just after hearing the news of a ship that was trying to cross the Mediterranean, when over 900 people drowned in one day.
